Joplin Helps Haiti

Following the tragic earthquake that took place on January 11th, 2010 in Haiti, members of the Joplin community began to brainstorm ways local churches, companies and individuals could have a direct impact on the Haitian people. Several faith based organizations with existing relations to the Haitian people came forward with a desire to help. This web site was set up to function as a portal between the people of Joplin and the people of Haiti. Joplin Helps Haiti works directly with organizations and individuals who are currently on the ground in Haiti.  We are also working with Stateside organizations who have a presence in the country.

Haitian Christian Mission is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization with 57 churches in the U.S. and Haiti and more than 52 schools, 1 sponsorship program 6 nutrition centers, and 3 orphanages in Haiti. This Mission has been in existence for 35 years with the sole purpose of saving souls for the Kingdom of Christ. This has always been the focus of this Mission whether we are involved in education, medical care, nutrition centers or the sponsorship program. God has empowered it to accomplish a marvelous job over the years. It is through the efforts of nationals, expatriates and supporters that this job has been done. We want to thank all those who invest their lives, money and energy to bring about these results. But our thanks are limited. The real words of thanks will come to them from the Lord when they cross the pearly gates and see the Lord - who will say to them with outstretched arms:

"Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world." Matthew 25:34

I am thankful for our new website joplinhelpshaiti.com. Joplin has been helping Haiti since the early 70’s. I was a student at OCC with Etienne Prophete, Director of HCM. Suzette and I attended Park Plaza Christian Church with Etienne and his wife, Betty. Many groups and individuals helped us start Haitian Christian Mission in 1974 on a budget of $300 monthly sent with Etienne and Betty as they returned to Haiti to begin their ministry. Last year HCM raised over one million dollars for the work in Haiti (hcmsupport.org).
